The architecture of change.

I don’t think the role of the Information Architect is misunderstood, I think it is not understood. As a result the I.A. and the benefits they can bring to a project are too often ignored. IMHO this is probably the fault of both the project manager (in not knowing how to utilize the I.A.) and of the I.A. (in not understanding their role as a change agent).

I agree. Interestingly, much of the talk at the web analytics conference Neil and I went to this week was about how to make the shift to data-driven decisions for changes to your site and get around the “HiPPOs.” HiPPO stands for Highest Paid Person’s Opinion.
